Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities

Are you looking for a role that enables you to make a significant impact in a school environment? As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will play an essential part in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming school setting that supports student learning and wellbeing.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring our grounds and facilities are well-maintained, compliant, and aligned with high-quality education standards. This includes routine maintenance, minor repairs, and groundskeeping duties.

You will work closely with the Principal, Business Manager, or delegated leader to carry out a range of tasks. You will also work independently and be trusted to manage day-to-day responsibilities.

About The Role
  • Support various security duties at the school involving the use and maintenance of security systems; banking of school funds (this does not refer to collection, receipt, or reconciliation of funds); and locking and unlocking buildings within core hours.
  • Assist with clearing and hosing of drains and gutters; collection of waste, food and paper on school grounds as agreed by relevant staff and senior leaders; undertaking immediate action cleaning duties outside normal operating hours; coordinating removal and/or disposal of rubbish as required; and assisting with requirements for significant events such as fetes, plays and major sporting events.
  • Evaluate compliance with workplace health and safety requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuel; report any safety hazards; manage equipment records; and maintain tools and equipment for repair services.
