Job Summary
The role of Payroll Manager involves overseeing the end-to-end payroll process for Australian operations. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Responsibilities include managing payroll calculations and reconciliations, ensuring accurate leave accruals and balances, and interpreting and applying relevant employment legislation. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining payroll compliance and internal controls, including data security and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee full payroll cycle across all entities, including monthly and ad hoc payrolls
- Collaborate closely with outsourced payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely processing
- Ensure employees are set up correctly in payroll system, in accordance with onboarding documentation
- Manage payroll calculations and reconciliations, including salaries, wages, bonuses, allowances, terminations, redundancies, and leave entitlements
- Perform monthly leave reconciliations and ensure accurate leave accruals and balances
- Interpret and apply relevant employment legislation, including payroll tax, superannuation and PAYG withholding
- Process and submit all required statutory payments and reports: PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation contributions, Single Touch Payroll (STP), and annual reconciliation statements
- Maintain payroll compliance and internal controls, including data security and confidentiality
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years' end-to-end payroll experience within medium to large corporate environments in Australia
- Proven experience managing outsourced payroll providers and vendor relationships
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Strong organisational and time management skills; able to meet multiple deadlines
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain payroll related matters simply and clearly
