Regional Operations Manager for Cloud Infrastructure

Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) drives Microsoft's cloud services. As a Regional Transition Program Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure.

Our global data center portfolio comprises over 100 facilities and 1 million servers. We support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide, with a focus on environmental sustainability and optimization.

As a Regional Transition Program Manager, your objectives will include:

  • Acting as the Single Point of contact for engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to transition new data centers to the Operations team.
  • Planning and overseeing all activities necessary for the transition of new data centers to the Operations team.
  • Partnerships with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project life cycle, from site selection to project close-out.
  • Maintaining communication and collaboration during all phases of a new data center build.
  • Coordination of all construction-related activities that may impact live data centers.
  • Attendance at design review meetings to highlight operational concerns.
  • Supporting the engineering team in facilitating inquiries that require input from Operations.
  • Sharing lessons learned for consideration and mitigation.
  • Identifying equipment quality issues and holding responsible parties accountable.
  • Supporting the onboarding of Operations teams for new greenfield sites.
  • Gaining in-depth knowledge of the site and documenting risk registers.
  • Supporting site mobilization, including procuring spares, tools, and consumables.
  • Performing site acceptance through CSA walks, beneficial use, and turnover walks.
  • Engagement with 3rd party maintenance suppliers for contract/agreement setup.
  • Review of turnover documentation, including O&M's, as-built and record drawings, permits, certificates, and warranty documents.
  • Participation in turnover issue meetings and providing input on impact to Operations.
