Job Title: Aboriginal Mental Health Specialist

The Aboriginal Mental Health Specialist provides culturally sensitive and person-centered care to individuals and communities affected by mental illness, distress, and risk issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality care that prioritizes self-determination, recovery, and a strengths-based approach.
  • Collaborate with consumers, their families, and carers, as well as other stakeholders.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive and coordinated care.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
  • Possess a tertiary qualification in health science or a related field, such as nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, or social work.
  • Have high-level communication and computer skills, including accuracy and proficiency in electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office programs.
