Job Description

As a senior case manager, you will be responsible for assessing offending risk and need, developing and implementing an engagement plan to improve rehabilitation, reintegration, and/or community supervision outcomes for incarcerated individuals.

You will use a whole-of-sentence planning approach, applying the principles of Risk Need Responsivity (RNR) to case management. Your goal is to coordinate activities that support individuals' readiness for release and transition back to the community.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the criminal justice environment, including the interpretation and application of legislation, policy, and practice directives. They will also possess demonstrated assessment and case management experience, working with a diverse and complex client base within a human services field.

In addition, the successful candidate will have well-developed written communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality objective, analytical reports. They will also have professional verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse client group and effectively communicate with stakeholders.

Confidence and demonstrated experience in applying professional discretion, reasoning, judgement, and decision-making skills are essential. The ability to adapt and respond to shifting priorities and work practices is also crucial.

It is desirable for the successful candidate to have knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues relevant to the over-representation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in custody. Building and managing strong relationships with peers, team members, internal, and external stakeholders is also expected.
