Master Position

The Master is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a transhipment vessel in Cape Preston, Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing policies regarding safety, security, operations, and environmental protection to ensure a secure work environment
  • Ensuring that commercial considerations do not take precedence over safety and environmental protection at all times
  • Allocating tasks to crew members for the safe and efficient operation of the ship
  • Making decisions related to ship safety, crew welfare, passenger safety, and pollution prevention with minimal risk
Requirements:
  • Australia Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) Master Certificate of Competency/Certificate of Recognition Unlimited
  • Education Requirement: As per AMSA Marine Order 71
  • Technical Requirement: minimum 5 years sea time as a Chief Officer
  • STCW regulation II/2
  • Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
  • Electronic Chart Display Information System (ECDIS) and Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)
  • Certificate of Safety Training
  • Australian citizenship or valid working visa without restrictions
  • Residence in an Australian state
  • Pilotage Exemption Certificate for Cape Preston (desirable)
  • Ability to wear a respirator on deck
