Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing the commercial team, ensuring financial health and project success. Key responsibilities include:

  • Month-End Financial Mastery: Crafting accurate and insightful month-end financial reports.
  • Tender Expertise: Preparing tender packages, Requests for Quotation, and conducting tender evaluations with recommendations for approval.
  • Contract Maestro: Negotiating and drafting contracts that pave the way for project success.
  • Claims and Variations: Evaluating variation claims and presenting them for review and approval by management.
  • Subcontractor Relations: Managing subcontractor payment claims to ensure fairness and accuracy.
  • Contract Correspondence: Dispatching contract correspondence to Contractors and maintaining smooth project communication.
  • Risk Assessment: Conducting comprehensive risk and opportunity assessments, adding valuable insights to project-wide management reporting.
  • Earned Value Analysis: Managing the earned value analysis of various work packages to stay on course.
  • Cost Control Champion: Implementing robust cost control processes and practices to keep projects on budget.
  • Conflict Resolution: Navigating and managing contract disputes with finesse.
  • Compliance Commander: Overseeing compliance and generating reports on the commercial performance of the project.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience coupled with relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Proven team management skills, with experience in medium on-site construction teams.
  • A sharp commercial mindset that thrives under tight deadlines.
  • A track record in procuring and managing subcontract packages for medium-scale projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a talent for stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in contract negotiation and the ability to assess and resolve complex claims and variations from start to finish.
