Transport Inspector Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of all road users.

The primary goal of this position is to educate the public and industry about relevant legislation and take enforcement action when necessary. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Legislative Expertise: Advising, training, and educating members of the public, transport industry, and government agencies on various transport-related legislation, procedures, and standards to promote compliance and safety.
  • Audit and Investigation: Conducting roadside light vehicle inspections, audits, and investigations to monitor compliance and identify potential breaches.
  • Licensing and Accreditation: Undertaking light vehicle inspection activities related to licensing and accreditation, using required equipment to test on-road vehicles.
  • Audit Planning: Planning and conducting audits of individuals and organizations working with us, recommending education, further investigation, or enforcement action as needed.
  • Report Writing: Preparing reports, including offence reports and briefs of evidence, using computer technology and office systems.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:

  • Policy Knowledge: Strong knowledge of policy, legislation, and procedures, preferably in the transport industry, allowing for accurate interpretation and implementation.
  • Decision-Making: Ability to understand and analyze information from different sources, making informed decisions and adapting to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Risk Management: Skills in maintaining high standards through good governance and risk management, promoting a healthy and inclusive workplace.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Mentorship: Able to act as a mentor, role model, and advisor, leveraging strengths to achieve results.
