Transforming Lives: Expert Clinical Nurse Consultant

The role of the Clinical Nurse Consultant is a high-level position within Child and Family Health Nursing that requires expertise in clinical practice, leadership, and education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based practice and quality care delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing clinical leadership and mentoring to nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Developing and implementing clinical guidelines and standards.
- Conducting research and evaluating its impact on clinical practice.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to improve patient outcomes and health services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Child and Family Health Nursing, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
The CNC is an expert practitioner who promotes clinical excellence through leadership and collaboration with healthcare providers and consumer groups. They develop clinical practice standards, evaluate outcomes, and provide services that facilitate effective CFHN management.
They act as a role model and promote NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment in interactions with patients, clients, and staff. All staff contribute to the Nursing and Midwifery Service vision of Compassionate Nursing and Midwifery Care Always.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- At least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, with at least 3 years in Child and Family Health Nursing (CFHN).
- Approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to CFHN, or equivalent qualifications/experience as deemed appropriate.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining current knowledge of clinical practice advances and CFHN research.
What You'll Be Doing
The CNC will provide clinical leadership, apply evidence-based practice, and contribute to clinical standards and outcomes in CFHN. They will promote service quality and support effective care management in CFHN.
