
Chief Space Planner

Key Role:
We are seeking a strategic thinker to spearhead the planning and allocation of campus facilities. This pivotal role will foster a vibrant and inclusive campus environment.
The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of space utilisation and planning concepts, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and experience in consultation, influencing and negotiation with diverse stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with faculty and division stakeholders to understand their objectives and identify areas for improvement in the physical environment.
- Develop and implement long-term strategic plans to optimise the university's estate portfolio, aligning with faculty/divisional strategies and the university's goals.
- Analyse and report on space usage through booking data, occupancy patterns and other relevant metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Review space and capital investment needs, negotiating and resolving requests/issues and allocations that support diverse campus activities and priorities.
- Prepare executive-level business cases and develop functional briefs for estate improvement and development projects.
Skill Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in architecture, design, facilities management or related field.
- Experience in space or campus planning, particularly in managing research laboratories and workspaces in university or research institutions.
- Strong knowledge of space utilisation principles, learning space design principles, facility standards, equipment requirements and safety and regulatory requirements.
