Legal Team Manager/Special Counsel

A National specialist law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Team Manager or Special Counsel to join their team in Melbourne. This role involves managing and supervising medical defendant lawyers, with a focus on defending medical practitioners.

The successful candidate will have 10+ years of experience as a lawyer, preferably in defence medical negligence and insurance law. They should also have strong leadership skills and be proactive in developing relationships and understanding member, business, and team requirements.

Key responsibilities include conducting own civil file load, managing the civil litigation team, and providing high-quality legal services. The ideal candidate will also be able to supervise, mentor, and develop the civil team to enable career development for staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience as a lawyer, preferably in defence medical negligence and insurance law
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage and supervise a team
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop relationships with members, business partners, and team
  • Proactive approach to developing and implementing effective strategies and solutions
