Job Opportunity: Legal Team Manager/Special Counsel

We are seeking an experienced legal professional to lead our civil practice team in Melbourne.

About the Role:

This is an opportunity for a senior lawyer with litigation expertise to progress their career and manage a team of lawyers delivering high-quality legal services.

  • Conducting own file load and managing the civil litigation team in accordance with KPIs, ensuring billing targets are met;
  • Provision and supervision of lawyers to deliver sustainable, timely, and efficient legal services;
  • Coordination of resourcing and workflows within the team and ensuring the management of claims in accordance with agreed protocols and procedures;
  • Supervision, mentoring, and development of the team to enable career development for staff;
  • Advising and supporting the Head of Practice on state legal trends, issues, and developments relevant to the practice group.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 10+ years' experience ideal;
  • Experience in leadership or strong interest in people leadership skills;
  • Defence medical negligence and insurance law experience ideal;
  • Demonstrated health law knowledge;
  • Proactive in developing relationships and understanding member, business, and team requirements;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
