Matte Painter Position

We are seeking a skilled digital artist to join our animation team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating high-quality digital matte paintings, including skies, background environments, and set extensions, in collaboration with the production designer, art director, and director's vision.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4+ years of experience as a matte painter for animation productions, demonstrated proficiency in past project work and/or reel/portfolio, and expert knowledge of perspective, parallax, lighting, and color.

The successful candidate will also possess excellent verbal, written, and e-social communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a critical eye for detail.

  • Create digital matte paintings from scratch or from other artwork necessary to integrate into CG world.
  • Paint stylized environments and elements as extensions of the CG set.
  • Implement and adjust projection setups to attain the required amount of parallax.
  • Integrate imagery into shots, preserving a unified sense of lighting, perspective, and color.
  • Partner with lighting and compositing to deliver work that meets or exceeds director expectations.
