Civil Design Manager


About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Design Manager to lead our team in water and sewerage infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage feasibility and detailed design projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Lead POAR and Safety in Design processes, ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Conduct options analysis and develop recommended solutions for complex projects
  • Coordinate all aspects of design including investigations, drawings, construction, and commissioning support
  • Perform technical and quality reviews of deliverables, identifying areas for improvement
  • Develop and manage project estimates, budgets, and resource forecasts, ensuring effective planning and prioritization
  • Report on project performance, proactively addressing risks and issues to ensure successful outcomes
  • Promote a collaborative, value-for-money, and safety-first culture among team members
  • Mentor and coach team members to support capability development and growth

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil preferred) with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • CPEng and RPEQ certifications, preferably with experience in project management
  • 5 to 15 years' engineering experience in water/wastewater infrastructure with a focus on gravity and pressure systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing multidisciplinary teams of engineers and drafters
  • Strong communication and report writing skills, with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Proven design and project management capabilities, with a focus on practical and innovative solutions
  • Effective planning and prioritisation skills, with a strong understanding of budget and time constraints
