Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to assume a leadership role within our Indirect Tax team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing NAB's indirect tax risk in accordance with the company's Tax Risk Governance Policy.

Main Responsibilities

  • To provide expert advice on indirect tax matters, taking into account Conservative Regulatory and Compliance risk postures set by the NAB Principal Board.
  • Support the Head of Tax in recommending updates to NAB's Tax Risk Governance Policy and associated Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Act as an advocate of NAB's tax policies and procedures throughout the organization, ensuring key stakeholders have sufficient awareness of relevant policies and risk management processes.
  • Oversee the annual strategy for the indirect tax function, aligning it with the wider Group Tax annual strategy.
  • Assist the HOT as the tax risk approval authority for new initiatives/transactions for Performance Units within the indirect tax area of accountability.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with the ATO.

About You

  • You possess strong analytical skills, transforming complex financial and non-financial data into meaningful business insights.
  • You have experience in managing complex tax issues and working on large tax projects.
  • You can demonstrate proven experience engaging with the ATO and other revenue authorities on tax and tax risk issues.
  • You have the ability to conduct detailed analysis and translate technical tax elements to business stakeholders.
  • You hold current specialist indirect tax experience working in a chartered accounting firm or senior corporate group tax role with a financial services background.
  • Your tertiary qualification is in law and/or finance, preferably with a Masters of Tax or CA.
