Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Cairns Airport team as an Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external customers, communicating changes to orders between aircraft and internal departments, representing the company at functions, promoting a strong and positive image, participating in audit and quality controls, ensuring high standards, providing expert advice on customer service, logistics, and customs information, improving customer service by obtaining client feedback, establishing communication service standards and implementing productivity measures, proactively addressing performance issues, identifying root causes and providing training support, contributing to operational cost management through education and training, implementing planning and forecasting strategies using business tools and resources, assisting with manpower forecasting and rostering for operations, providing leadership and guidance to staff while on shift.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Communicate changes to orders between aircraft and internal departments.
  • Represent the company at functions, promoting a strong and positive image.
  • Participate in audit and quality controls, ensuring high standards.
  • Provide expert advice on customer service, logistics, and customs information.
  • Improve customer service by obtaining client feedback.
  • Establish communication service standards and implement productivity measures.
  • Proactively address performance issues, identifying root causes and providing training support.
  • Contribute to operational cost management through education and training.
  • Implement planning and forecasting strategies using business tools and resources.
  • Assist with manpower forecasting and rostering for operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff while on shift.
Requirements:
  • Positive attitude and winning mentality.
  • Client or account management experience (preferred but not essential).
  • Food Safety and HACCP qualifications desirable.
  • Availability for rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solutions-focused problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the airline catering industry (preferred but not essential).
  • Possession of a current clean MR or HR Drivers License (preferred but not essential).
  • Availability for occasional out-of-hours work to meet flight schedule demands.
  • Competence in documentation and records management.
  • Ability to obtain an ASIC pass and Airside Driver's Authority.
  • National Police Check required.
