About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aerodromes Officer to join our team at East Gippsland Shire Council. As an Aerodromes Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our airports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine serviceability inspections at Orbost and Bairnsdale Airports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide an on-call service and respond to call outs, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure the airports remain operational.
  • Assist with ensuring programmed maintenance works are completed in accordance with policy, with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Collaborate with the Aerodromes & Ferry Supervisors to ensure compliance of aerodrome infrastructure with regulations and action safety findings as required.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Raymond Island Ferry to assist the Aerodromes & Ferry Supervisors role.
Requirements
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of aerodromes or a background in maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including airport users and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong knowledge of the CASA Part 139 Manual of Standards and the principles of occupational health and safety and risk management as related to aviation.
  • Ability to work weekends and after hours, as required.
