Legacy Building Director Role Overview

As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our State's transport system. This legacy-building work requires your strategic vision and expertise to drive integrated road network initiatives that support a safe, efficient, and reliable transport system.

  • Director Responsibilities:
  • Provide Strategic Leadership: Lead planning and development of integrated road network initiatives that meet customer needs and align with government priorities.
  • Champion Effective Network Management: Deliver data-informed strategies and safety improvements through effective network management and optimisation.
  • Oversee Business Case Development: Ensure best practice in business case development from initial options assessment to final business cases.
  • Lead High-Performing Teams: Promote a culture of accountability, ethics, and continuous improvement within high-performing teams.
  • Represent Transport for NSW: Act as a senior liaison and representative with government agencies, local councils, elected officials, industry, and community groups.
  • Drive Investment Decisions: Provide high-level technical advice and strategic input to ensure transport and community needs are reflected in investment decisions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Network Performance Metrics: Monitor and evaluate network performance metrics, including safety, asset condition, and traffic flow.
  • Investment Prioritisation: Drive investment prioritisation and strategic portfolio decisions to ensure integration with TfNSW corporate objectives and broader NSW Government strategy.
About the Roles

We are currently recruiting for two Director roles: one overseeing the North Precinct and one overseeing the South West Precinct. For more information on this position and business unit, view the role description and information pack.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Senior-Level Experience: Proven experience in transport, infrastructure, or road safety program development and/or delivery.
  • Leadership and Stakeholder Management: Strong track record in delivering customer-focused solutions and building strategic partnerships across government, industry, and communities.
  • Business Case Development: Experience overseeing business case development and investment prioritisation to support transport network improvements.
  • Road Network Operations: Skilled in road network operations, traffic and safety management, and integrating performance data to drive network optimisation.
  • Team Leadership: Proven leadership of high-performing teams with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
