About the Assistant Head Coach Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coach to deliver a comprehensive program that meets the needs of squad swimmers.

  • Program Implementation: Assist the Head Coach in planning, executing and evaluating training programs that address swimmers' physiological and psychological requirements across various skill levels.
  • Swimmer Development: Foster a supportive training environment, encouraging swimmers' progress and facilitating a smooth transition between Learn-to-Swim and Squad programs.
  • Club Success: Promote club participation and encourage swimmer engagement in local, state and national competitions.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Work with the head coach on Swimmer development plans, including talent identification, swimming squad progressions and sequential skill development across age groups.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to ensure consistency and high-quality coaching across all programs.
  • Maintain positive relationships with swimmers, parents and the wider community.
  • Commercial Skills: Proven ability to manage resources effectively, with a strong understanding of budget management and financial reporting. Demonstrates proficiency in using software for communication, reporting and financial management.
  • Aquatics Coaching Professional Development: Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and a proactive approach to seeking opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in aquatics coaching.
Essential Qualifications:
  • ASCTA Development Coach accreditation.
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Current Pool Lifeguard certification.
  • Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification (desirable)

This is a full-time position at a 7-lane, 50-meter pool facility featuring a health club and indoor teaching pool. The program includes swimmers from junior squad to national representative levels.
