About the Role

Austal is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer/Naval Architect to join our team as an Asset Management Specialist. In this role, you will provide technical assistance for the delivery of contract engineering support services, applying engineering expertise to ensure asset capability and integrity is maintained in accordance with business expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Engineering Change Proposal Development: Develop and implement engineering change proposals to ensure asset capability and integrity.
  2. Technical Deviation Management: Develop and manage technical deviations to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  3. Engineering Investigations: Conduct timely and effective engineering investigations to identify and mitigate technical risks.
  4. Technical Risk Analysis: Perform technical risk analysis and awareness to ensure effective risk management.
  5. Maintenance Repair Plan Review: Review and approve maintenance repair plans to ensure technical integrity.
  6. Technical Instruction Development: Develop and implement technical instructions to ensure effective technical guidance.
  7. Problem Resolution Requests: Develop and manage requests for problem resolution to ensure effective issue resolution.
  8. HSEQ Culture Promotion: Promote and engage a HSEQ culture across all activities to ensure effective HSEQ compliance.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives through corrective actions arising from incidents or non-conformances.
Requirements
  1. Qualifications: Formal degree qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline, recognised by Engineers Australia as being suitable for registration in the Professional Engineer (Member) category (or working towards).
  2. Australian Citizenship: Australian Citizen, if the role requires the Department of Defence and/or the Department of Home Affairs Security Clearances.
  3. Communication Skills: Well-developed communication skills.
  4. Experience: 3 years' experience in a sustainment engineering role.
  5. Asset Management Knowledge: Knowledge of asset management standards, systems, and processes.
  6. Configuration Management: Knowledge of configuration management systems and processes.
  7. Authorised Engineering Authority: Capable of achieving Level 4 Authorised Engineering Authority delegation under the Navy Technical Regulatory System or equivalent.
  8. Technical Risk Management: Understanding of technical risk management and safety systems.
  9. Problem-Solving Skills: Complex problem-solving skills.
  10. Software Competency: Competency in Microsoft Office and standard engineering software.
  11. White Card: White Card.
