As a Senior Engineering Manager/Chapter Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the Engineering Chapter within Payments. Your focus will be on enhancing customer experience, ensuring security, scalability, and innovative engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional teams in designing and building payments systems and services while maintaining hands-on involvement with code.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent; promote psychological safety, autonomy, and mastery to drive individual growth.
  • Align chapter goals with strategic ambitions to become a global leader in Agentive and Gen AI at scale.
  • Design solutions for complex challenges within the business unit with a strong emphasis on security from the initial stages of development.
  • Encourage engineers to enhance their skills while developing high-quality applications.
  • Drive Engineering Governance, Continuous Delivery, and initiatives such as Cloud and Payments Event-based architecture.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams in complex environments.
  • Passion for uplifting capability, improving developer experience, and driving engagement.
  • Familiarity with Gen AI tooling, prompt engineering, and AI-enhanced development workflows is highly desirable.
  • Ability to balance people, culture, and technology to deliver resilient systems and exceptional customer experiences.
Technical Skills and Expertise
  • Cloud: AWS, Serverless, Containers, VM Hosting.
  • Databases: AWS Aurora/RDS, Redis, ElastiCache; Oracle.
  • Languages: TypeScript, Java, or Python.
  • Eventing: SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Kafka.
  • Engineering: GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform Enterprise, Artifactory, AKKA, SST.
  • Observability: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch.
  • Security: Vault, Parameter Store, AWS Certificate Manager, AWS Secrets Manager.
  • Design, Testing (TDD/BDD), API design, microservices, event-driven and serverless architecture.
  • Deployment methodologies, SRE.
  • Payments: NPP, SWIFT, BIAN.
  • AI in engineering: Gen AI, RAG, MCP, Agentive AI.
  • Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional; AWS AI Practitioner and Machine Learning Specialty are preferred.
