Electrical Construction Project Manager

The primary objective of this role is to manage the overall construction process for high-voltage substation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective construction methodologies and provide buildability advice during the tender phase.
  • Collaborate with pre-contracts and estimating teams to create accurate construction programs, resource plans, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in site visits and constructability reviews to inform bid strategies and ensure project feasibility.
  • Ensure seamless handovers from pre-contracts to delivery teams, maintaining continuity of knowledge and planning.
  • Oversee the development and execution of detailed construction programs for high voltage and substation works, aligning them with engineering deliverables and procurement schedules.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and Foremen to effectively manage subcontractor performance and site logistics.
  • E nsure compliance with relevant electrical safety regulations and utility provider standards (e.g. AusNet, Powerlink, Transgrid).
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade Qualifications.
  • At least 15 years of experience in the construction industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role on substation high voltage BOP projects.
  • A proven track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure projects within a Tier 1 construction environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of high voltage construction methodologies, including plant erection, high voltage cable installation, conductor stringing, control cables installation, Commissioning of high voltage equipment.
  • Familiarity with utility standards (e.g. Powerlink, Transgrid, AusNet) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.
