About the Role

The role of Safeguarding Investigator involves conducting thorough investigations into allegations of abuse and harm to children and young people.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for undertaking research and reviews of evidence, organising and conducting interviews, and documenting the investigation process and outcomes.

You will report to the Manager Safeguarding Investigations and Audit, and work collaboratively with other teams to ensure the adoption of child-safe strategies and promotion of a culture of safety and well-being for children and young people.

This is a high-profile role that requires the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Investigations: Conduct objective investigations into allegations of abuse toward children and young people by employees and volunteers, including research and review of evidence, organising and conducting interviews, and documenting the investigation process and outcomes.
  • Manage Reporting Obligations: Manage internal and external reporting obligations, including reporting to senior leaders, police reports, reportable conduct, and reports to statutory child protection agencies.
  • Provide Updates: Provide updates to senior leaders regarding the status of investigations as required.
  • Oversight of External Investigations: Oversight of external investigations and gathering relevant information through liaison with Officer Personnel, Legal, and/or Centre for Restoration teams.
  • Safeguarding Risk Assessments: Undertake safeguarding risk assessments post-investigations.
  • Safeguarding Audits: Undertake Safeguarding audits as required.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and qualifications, including:

  • Proven Investigation Experience: Proven experience in conducting investigations involving children, young people, and vulnerable people.
  • Workplace Investigation Skills: Proven experience in conducting workplace investigations.
  • Understanding of Abuse Dynamics: Understanding of the dynamics associated with abuse and neglect of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Formal Qualifications: A degree in Social Work or similar tertiary qualification.
Requirements:
  • National Police Record Check: A national police record check is required.
  • Working with Children Check: A Working with Children Check is required.
  • Compulsory Training Modules: Compulsory Code of Conduct, WHS, and Bullying and Harassment training modules must be completed and up-to-date.
