Job Description

The Child Protection Specialist plays a critical role in the Family Preservation and Reunification Response, dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights and best interests of children and young people.

This position involves activation of the Response at the right time, with the right people and in the right place, supporting a connected and coordinated practice culture and mindset shift among practitioners within child and family services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Critical Assessment and Reflection: Engaging in risk assessment and analysis, case management, reporting, and reflective practice.
  • Engaging Others: Collaborating with other practitioners and services, sharing knowledge, and engaging with children, their families, and support networks.
  • Delivering Results: Problem-solving, making informed practice decisions, delivering improvements, and managing budgets to achieve best outcomes.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require strong skills in case practice quality audits, regular practice forums, and reflective practice sessions. A core requirement includes a case-carrying component, commensurate with other responsibilities.

You will also need to possess a valid driver's licence and be willing to travel, including in-country regions. Overnight work, evening, and early morning travel may be required to ensure the wellbeing of children.
