Job Overview

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as Air Surveillance Operators in the Australian Defence Force.

About the Role

This role involves working with sophisticated electronic equipment to detect, classify and identify aircraft, surface vessels and space objects within specified areas of operations. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an up-to-date and complete picture of air, space and surface activities using a network of radars and intelligence systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate radar systems, technologically advanced computers, advanced display systems, extensive communications systems (including satellite data links), and intelligence equipment.
  • Maintain situational awareness of the airspace and respond to threats accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other sections to classify and identify aircraft.
  • Analyse information received from Over the Horizon Radar to detect and track air and surface targets.
  • Provide a Networking Capability with allied forces via secure data transmission services.
Work Environment

You will be employed at No 1 Radar Surveillance Unit (1RSU) within the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) system, where you will work closely with other ASOPs and be part of a dynamic and challenging environment.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this role is AU$70,000 - AU$100,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. You will also receive a range of benefits, including paid annual leave, sick leave, and access to health and wellbeing programs.
