Job Opportunity: Mental Health Clinician

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Clinician to join our team in Hervey Bay, Fraser Coast Region. As an AOD clinician, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based psychosocial and psychological treatments to individuals and families affected by substance use.

This is a unique opportunity for professionals with experience working in mental health, social work, or related fields to make a genuine impact in the community. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive client assessments, developing tailored treatment plans, and providing evidence-based interventions.

You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with clients, their families, and other service providers to coordinate care and support recovery. Our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a non-judgmental approach, and a commitment to guiding people on their recovery journey.

About the Role
  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments and intakes using standardised tools
  • Develop and deliver tailored treatment plans based on individual needs and readiness for change
  • Provide evidence-based psychological and psychosocial interventions, including motivational interviewing, CBT, and brief interventions
  • Facilitate family and group therapy sessions to support recovery and strengthen relationships
  • Collaborate with community, public-sector, and health service providers to coordinate client care
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualifications in the health, social or behavioural science field and/or extensive AOD training
  • Experience working with individuals and families affected by alcohol or other drug issues
  • Experience working with clients with dual diagnosis or complex needs
  • Understanding of harm minimisation principles and evidence-based interventions
