Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and environmentally conscious Waste Coordinator to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient waste management practices across our facility. This role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

  • Regulated and hazardous waste characterization, including classification, storage, segregation, labeling, documentation in waste logs, and preparation for shipment in accordance with local state waste regulatory requirements.
  • Maintenance of the waste storage area and safety equipment, adhering to Australian regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Digital waste reporting tool usage, including logging and containerizing all regulated and hazardous wastes.
  • Purchasing additional containers, labels, and supplies from vendors to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Liaison with vendors to arrange waste collection, send accumulated logs, schedule pickups, and follow up on paperwork.
  • Document maintenance and upload to digital waste reporting tool and shared folder.
  • Conducting site-based environmental inspections, raising findings, and collaborating with stakeholders to assign actions for effective environmental management.
  • Liaison with various teams, including WHS, Operations, ICQA, Vendor Returns, and Customer Returns, regarding hazardous chemical and waste management.
  • Support in preparing monthly waste inventory and identifying shipping frequency to comply with accumulation requirements.
  • Collaboration with teams to set up Products Awaiting Determination Staging Area.
  • Regularly engaging with site leadership to provide Environmental updates and visibility of Environmental Performance status and requirements.
  • Mandatory training on digital waste reporting tool and AU Hazardous Waste Procedure.
  • Completion of Dangerous Goods (DG)/HazMat Training.
  • Trend research, inventory loss, and cost reduction efforts identification, where applicable.
  • Availability to assist with incidental spill/leak/release clean-up activities.
  • Deep-dive waste data analysis to identify opportunities for waste reduction onsite.
  • Additional projects focused on professional growth and development in Waste/Environmental related focus areas.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy level.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with managers and associates at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer).
  • Ability to lift up to 25Kg, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or degree in Environmental Science or Science.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify opportunities, issues, or improvements for waste minimization.
  • Experience in a fulfillment/distribution center environment.
  • Experience with inventory, bin types, containers, and tools used to move product throughout the warehouse.
  • Knowledge of waste classification, segregation, and state-based waste regulatory requirements.
  • Interest in Environmental, Health, and Safety field of work and Environmental Compliance at the site level.
  • Understanding of Receiving processes and operations.
