About the Role

This challenging opportunity is designed for a motivated and skilled legal professional to lead in preparing and managing complex matters referred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for prosecution.


The role requires expertise in applying legal principles, drafting documents, providing advice and acting as a court advocate with confidence and professionalism.


You will be responsible for preparing prosecution cases on complex matters, collaborating with stakeholders, advocating in court, and engaging with complainants and relatives with sensitivity and compassion.


Your Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing prosecution cases on complex matters, including appeals, with professionalism and timeliness.
  • Collaborating and managing relationships with stakeholders such as defence counsel, solicitors, police, victims, and witnesses to maintain clear, respectful communication.
  • Advocating in court for appeals, sentences, committal hearings, and bail applications across the Magistrates, District, or higher courts.
  • Engaging with complainants and relatives, particularly in cases involving sexual or violent offences, with sensitivity and compassion.
  • Leading and mentoring legal officers and support staff, inspiring high standards and professional growth.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve work practices and streamline processes.

Requirements

Admission as a Legal Practitioner in a State or Territory of Australia.
