About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Manager to join our team at Whitehaven Coal. As a key member of our payroll function, you will be responsible for coordinating the preparation and distribution of employee remuneration in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Coordination: Supervise and manage all payrolls to be delivered by the team, including weekly and fortnightly payment cycles, ensuring they are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Reconciliation and Compliance: Conduct monthly reconciliations where required, and calculate and complete all external reporting and compliance for payroll, including Single Touch Payroll reporting, payroll tax, workers compensation premium payments, long service leave, and superannuation.
  • Data Integrity and Analysis: Collaborate with different departments to uphold the integrity of the payroll data and to maintain accurate employee data. Provide reporting and analysis to the broader business as required.
  • Process Improvement: Conduct regular audits for data integrity and compliance, and liaise with key stakeholders, including management, external auditors, and HR, to resolve key issues and problem-solve identified areas.
Requirements
  • Experience: Relevant experience as a Senior Payroll Officer or Payroll Manager within a large organization.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding and experience with enterprise agreements, and a good understanding of the Coal Industry.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, good time management and organizational skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to identify process improvements and drive improvements across the payroll function.
