Quantum Information Processing Researcher

Our team is seeking a highly skilled researcher to conduct theoretical research in quantum information processing with high-spin nuclei in silicon.

This role will involve developing new theory for quantum information processing in high-dimensional systems, informing future directions for the experimental effort, and supporting demonstrations of fault-tolerant quantum operations and quantum error correction concepts.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research in quantum information processing with minimal supervision.
  • Develop original research directions in quantum information theory.
  • Support demonstrations of fault-tolerant quantum operations and quantum error correction concepts.

Requirements
  • PhD in quantum physics, quantum engineering, or related area.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing original theory in the field of quantum information processing and quantum error correction.
  • Strong background in theoretical quantum information processing, quantum error correction, and application to practical quantum devices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.

Benefits
  • Research Associate (Level A) – AUD $117,877 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Senior Research Associate (Level B) – AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full-time employment
  • Fixed-term contract – 3 years
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD in quantum physics, quantum engineering, or related area.
  • A strong background in theoretical quantum information processing, quantum error correction, and application to practical quantum devices.
  • Ability to develop original theory in the field of quantum information processing and quantum error correction.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
