Quantum Research Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our research team in the Quantum Optics and Information Laboratory at Griffith University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge quantum experiments that will push the boundaries of our understanding of reality.

About the Role:

  • This PhD project aims to develop and perform quantum experiments that will impose strong constraints on the nature of reality, even stronger than the constraints imposed by the Bell experiments recognised by the 2022 physics Nobel Prize.
  • The primary focus of this role is to develop the ability to perform high-level quantum optical experiments and master quantum foundations and information concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in the Quantum Optics and Information Laboratory under the guidance of experienced researchers.
  • Develop and implement new experimental techniques and protocols to test fundamental principles of quantum mechanics.
  • Collaborate with theoretical groups led by Professor Howard Wiseman and Professor Eric Cavalcanti to develop a deeper understanding of quantum theory and nonlocality.

Requirements:

  • A strong background in quantum optics or quantum information science.
  • Demonstrated skills in experimental design and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • An annual stipend of $34,752 (indexed) for a period of up to three years of full-time study.
  • Tuition fees covered for up to three years for international applicants.
