Role Overview

The role of a Mechanical Engineer in our team is to provide technical mechanical knowledge and advice to support the Collins Class Submarines. This involves performing quality control & assurance, technical project management support, and providing engineering support to ensure the submarines are fit for purpose.

About Our Team

We are a team of engineers working together to deliver complex tasks related to submarine maintenance. Our goal is to ensure that when submarines exit Full Cycle Docking (FCD), they are compliant with the requirements of Navy Seaworthiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control & assurance, technical project management support, and provide engineering support to ensure the submarines are fit for purpose.
  • Provide technical mechanical knowledge and advice to stakeholders to deliver complex tasks.
  • Be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve technical mechanical work within an integrated workforce.
  • Conduct witnessing activities on board the submarine during survey and test & inspection activities and sign acceptance documentation.
  • Provide advice and direction on the introduction of design changes, maintenance deferral, and conducting technical investigations.
  • Work with the Collins Submarine Engineering team and Defence Industry to ensure compliance with Navy Seaworthiness requirements.
  • Manage workflows, resources, and team plans detailing measurable deadlines and expected outcomes.
  • Provide quality assurance and control.
  • Assist in ongoing upskilling and development of colleagues and self-improvement through professional development.
