About This Role

The role of Duty Trader involves overseeing day-to-day operations as part of an integrated portfolio of gas, electricity, and financial products. You will work within the Shell Energy Spot Trading team to gain in-depth knowledge of gas trading and power generation assets, optimize portfolios, maintain schedules, and integrate new business.

In fulfilling these responsibilities, you will liaise with counterparties, partners, and service providers to ensure timely and accurate decision making.

The team operates within strict regulatory and compliance standards, contractual agreements, pre-defined risk limits, and Shell standards and internal guidelines.

  • Manage long-term gas contract scheduling and optimization.
  • Negotiate terms of gas sales and purchases with customers.
  • Schedule power station dispatch into the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).
  • Analyze gas and power market data to inform strategy.
  • Interpret gas sales and purchase contracts for operational obligations.
  • Collect data for internal compliance and regulatory submissions.
  • Perform analytics and data management to improve daily processes and working methods.
  • Engage with customers, partners, service providers, and pipeline operators to ensure timely and accurate scheduling activities.
