Key Threat Intelligence Position

This pivotal role requires a strategic threat intelligence leader to drive Canonical's threat intelligence strategy and execution, encompassing a thorough understanding of cyber threat actors targeting the organization. The successful candidate will meticulously analyze attack trends across the open source software landscape, provide insightful findings to internal security teams, and advise the engineering community on optimal mitigation strategies.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop and own Canonical's comprehensive threat intelligence strategy
  • Design and maintain OSINT research environments
  • Promote OSINT tradecraft, principles, and techniques within the organization
  • Identify and track targeted intrusion cyber threats, trends, and developments by cyber threat actors through analysis of proprietary and open source datasets
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform on activity of interest
  • Coordinate adversary/campaign tracking efforts
  • Contribute to the wider threat intelligence community, establishing a thought leadership position for Canonical
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to explain cybersecurity threats and recommend effective mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with the OPSEC and IS team to implement/update security controls prioritizing cyber defense
  • Identify intelligence gaps and propose new tools and research projects to address them
  • Deliver compelling briefings for executives, internal stakeholders, and external customers
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experienced threat intelligence leader or similar professional
  • In-depth knowledge of the current open source threat landscape and computer networking/infrastructure concepts
  • Highly competent with OSINT tools (e.g., Buscador, Trace Labs OSINT VM, OSINT Framework, Maltego, Shodan, social media scraping tools, etc.)
  • Able to identify, organize, catalogue, and track adversary tradecraft trends – often with incomplete data
  • Experience using threat intelligence data to influence enterprise architecture or product development decisions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and tailor technical content for various audiences
  • Able to travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
