Job Summary:

The Assistant Director, External Budgets is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the budget process within the Federal Government Department.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of budget officers and provide strategic and technical advice on complex matters, including the Budget Process Operational Rules and Australian Government Resource Management Framework.
  • Facilitate the development, costing, and negotiation of funding for proposals, reviewing, analysing, and providing advice and support to business areas.
  • Identify and advise on alternative funding and delivery mechanisms for policies within Commonwealth policy and legislative frameworks.
  • Coordinate and support the management of the portfolio's budget estimates, maintaining timely and accurate estimates in budget systems (CBMS-R and TM1).

Requirements:

This role requires strong initiative, ability to achieve results, adaptability, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound analytical skills, and a baseline security clearance or the ability to obtain.
