Role Overview

This high-profile position involves leading a dedicated team to navigate the complexities of operational risk and regulatory compliance. As a seasoned expert, you will partner closely with senior leaders to develop and implement robust risk management frameworks that meet or exceed legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with leaders to provide informed guidance on regulatory, risk, and compliance matters.
  • Risk Framework Development: Spearhead the implementation and continuous improvement of risk and compliance protocols across the division.
  • Culture Enhancement: Embed and promote a strong risk and compliance culture through targeted education and engagement initiatives.
  • Compliance Oversight: Manage and monitor 1st Line risk practices, identifying and prioritizing risk issues accordingly.
  • Business Support: Assist the organization in applying and maintaining the Risk Management Framework.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Identify and assess regulatory changes, providing actionable guidance for effective implementation.
  • Communication Review: Review member communications, disclosure documents, and marketing materials for adherence to compliance standards.
  • Technical Advice: Provide expert guidance to support decision-making and regulatory interpretation.
  • Project Risk Management: Contribute to project risk oversight, ensuring initiatives align with compliance obligations.
  • Risk Reporting: Prepare insightful risk reporting and analysis for executive leaders, boards, and regulatory bodies.
Essential Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as RG146, Diploma of Superannuation Management, or equivalent qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Extensive experience in operational risk and compliance, preferably within superannuation or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements across super, managed investments, and IDPS.
  • Advanced ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory reforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and support senior leaders and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver in a fast-paced and regulated environment.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to delivering client-focused outcomes.
  • Organized, analytical, and confident navigating ambiguity and driving continuous improvement.
