About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microscopy Research Fellow to join our team at the Ian Holmes Imaging Centre. As a key member of our material characterisation team, you will be responsible for providing expert training and scientific advice to users of our electron microscopy facilities.
The Ian Holmes Imaging Centre is one of the largest electron microscopy centres in Australia, offering a wide range of research and research support activities. Our centre is staffed by a diverse team of scientists and engineers, and we strive to provide users with the best possible access to state-of-the-art instrumentation.
As a Microscopy Research Fellow, you will be responsible for:
- Managing and training users in scanning electron microscopy and other related techniques
- Carrying out high-quality research and developing new techniques in the field of surface, volume, and elemental analysis
- Developing standard operating procedures for the instrumentation and procedures you will be responsible for
- Preparing and presenting technical reports, conference papers, and publications associated with research projects
- Contributing to training, scientific mentoring, and supervision of students
- Overseeing the day-to-day use and maintenance of the surface and analytical instrumentation
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Advanced postdoctoral experience and expertise in SEM and/or TEM and elemental analysis
- Postdoctoral research experience in using scanning electron microscopes and related equipment
- Advanced hands-on research experience in electron microscopy and elemental analysis
