Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Job Description

The Opportunity

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team.

In this hands-on role, you will take the lead in maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy vehicles, ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently.

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy vehicles
  • Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure fleet safety and compliance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
  • Maintain accurate records using fleet management systems
  • Support workshop safety and cleanliness
  • Carry out basic welding and grinding work as required

About You

  • Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Diesel Fitter (Cert III or equivalent)
  • A valid HR licence
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics and electrics
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Experience with fleet maintenance and running repairs
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Fleet Maintenance Responsibilities

As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles
  2. Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
  3. Diagnostics and troubleshooting
  4. Record-keeping and administration
  5. Workshop safety and cleanliness
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Diesel Fitter (Cert III or equivalent)
  • A valid HR licence
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics and electrics
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently and cost-effectively
