About the Role

In the position of Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will engage closely with clients to evaluate their requirements, deliver training, and implement interventions that enhance their mobility in everyday situations. Your contributions will ensure that individuals who are blind or have low vision receive the necessary support to flourish. We extend O&M services to clients across all age groups, including their caregivers and families.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Evaluate clients' capabilities to navigate safely and confidently within their desired community areas.
  • Recommend and prescribe various mobility aids while providing specialized services tailored to individual needs.
  • Supervise and provide guidance on the utilization of low vision aids relevant to mobility programs.

About You

To excel in this position, you should possess recognized qualifications in O&M as endorsed by the Orientation and Mobility Association Australasia (OMAA).

Additionally, you will have:

  • Expertise in working with children, adults, and seniors.
  • Experience in delivering client support and O&M services in person or through various communication methods.
  • Skills in training and intervention strategies for individuals and groups.
