As our Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will utilize your knowledge and skills to provide assessment, training, intervention, and service coordination to assist in achieving equity and access for people who are blind or have low vision. Your role will involve:

  • Assessing the ability of clients to travel safely and confidently within the area of the community they wish to access;
  • Advising on and prescribing a range of mobility aids and providing specialist services to meet individual needs;
  • Monitoring and advising on the use of low vision aids as applicable to a mobility program;

As part of the Client Services team, you should have approved qualifications in O&M as recognized by Orientation and Mobility Association Australasia (OMAA). In addition, knowledge and skills in working with children, adults, and older adults are encouraged. You will also have:

  • Experience in providing client support and O&M services in person and/or through other communication mediums;
  • Training and intervention strategies for individuals and groups;
  • Strong planning skills, including sound time management skills;
