Job Overview
The State Distributor Manager will oversee the overall management of product lines within a distributor network, with key responsibilities including achieving sales and contribution margin targets through effective promotional activity and negotiation of distribution agreements.
This role requires strong leadership skills to manage a team and drive business results while maintaining customer relationships and ensuring timely execution of agreed business plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage sales expenditure to meet budgeted targets in Gross Sales Value, Volume, and Contribution.
- Negotiate and manage independent trading terms in conjunction with senior sales managers.
- Develop and maintain distribution networks for new and current products, ensuring customer retention and acquisition.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor tactical execution of business plans at end-user level.
- Prepare and maintain annual business development plans outlining strategies to drive business growth across all product lines.
- Review market share trends, competitor activity, pricing, and distribution, and make recommendations to senior sales managers.
- Communicate promotional programs, ranging deals, and sales information to the field on a monthly basis.
- Manage pricing within the state customer base aligned to national sales strategy.
- Own volume forecasts for all product lines and ensure demand management processes are met.
- Coach and work with field teams to optimize relationships and activity in the customer for allocated product lines.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Business or a relevant discipline.
- Experience in Foodservice, Sales, or a related FMCG industry.
- Demonstrated IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Substantial demonstrated account management experience.
- Ability to work closely with senior sales managers and operate autonomously.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- High-level business acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships aligned to customer focus and business plans.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
