About the Role

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a highly skilled Policy Manager to join our team. As a Policy Manager, you will be responsible for managing a small team and providing legal policy advice and support in the delivery of victim-focused reforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing a team responsible for the development, implementation, and delivery of strategic legal policy advice.
  • Supporting the assessment team, including providing advice on the application of legislation, regulations, and guidelines as it relates to scheme decisions.
  • Liaising and negotiating with senior stakeholders regarding the development of reform options and scheme design.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in the law, legal policy, or associated field.
  • Experience in the application of administrative law.
  • Experience in managing people to achieve objectives within tight timeframes.
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex issues simply and effectively for a range of audiences.
  • Professional written communication skills and an ability to develop complex policies, briefs, and drafting instructions to a high standard.
Qualifications

A degree in law or significant legal policy experience is required.
