About the Role

The Senior Policy Manager will play a key role in providing policy advice to senior management and ministers on government-led telecommunications initiatives. This includes supporting transformation priorities across the department through collaborative projects with subject matter experts to develop proposals, strategies, and implementation plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of telecommunications policy and program activities, as well as broader transformation initiatives.
  • Drive the strategic decision-making process supporting ministerial and departmental commitments and identifying and responding to new and emerging strategic issues impacting on the operating environment.
  • Initiate and manage negotiations with peers (internal and external) to gain commitment to develop policy and support project delivery.
  • Conduct investigations and research to provide advice to senior management and ministers on telecommunications and transformation related policies, projects, and trends.
  • Manage and lead the development of key policy documents, including briefs, correspondence, submissions, reports, and presentations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise that conceptualises, initiates, implements, promotes, and evaluates complex and innovative technical programs.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the development and implementation of government policy and program responses relating to telecommunications.
  • Strong knowledge of the state government policy agenda regarding digital technologies, including knowledge of current and emerging trends and relevant issues.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, ability to confidently convey complex concepts and information and understand and meet the needs of a targeted audience at various levels of government.
  • Conceptual and analytical thinking, diagnosing and addressing trends, obstacles, and opportunities in the internal and external environment and understanding the linkages between infrastructure and communities to inform policy decisions.
  • Proven record of initiating and maintaining relationships across government, industry, and academic sectors and facilitating strategic partnerships to deliver agreed objectives.
