Night Shift Manager Role

This is a pivotal position within our organization, requiring an individual with exceptional leadership skills to oversee night operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 50+ staff across various functions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong decision-making abilities, be able to mentor and support supervisors, and drive operational excellence. Additionally, they will be expected to maintain seamless handovers with day shift managers, ensure compliance with regulations, and foster a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Night Crew: Oversee 50+ staff across picking, packing, loading, and inventory functions.
  • Own the Shift: Make confident, on-the-spot decisions as the most senior leader onsite.
  • Build a Strong Team Culture: Support and mentor supervisors, celebrate wins, address performance gaps, and grow capability.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Ensure picking accuracy, OTIF delivery, HACCP, and OH&S standards, and housekeeping compliance.
  • Keep it Seamless: Partner with day shift managers to ensure smooth handovers and operational continuity.
  • Think Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for efficiency and warehouse optimization (layout, workflow, safety).
Requirements
  • Proven Leadership Experience: Warehousing or distribution experience, preferably in FMCG.
  • Mindset for Continuous Improvement: Confident in running solo but always looking for ways to lift performance.
  • People Leadership Strengths: Mentor, hold others accountable, lead with fairness and empathy.
  • Solid Understanding of Inventory and Operations: Familiarity with inventory management, warehouse operations, and compliance (HACCP & OH&S).
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership Presence: Steady, confident presence and ability to inspire trust on shift.
  • Systems Experience: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) a bonus.
