Population Health Specialist Role

This is a key position within the Drug and Alcohol Service, contributing to priority programs supporting population health across the Nepean, Hawkesbury, and Blue Mountains region.

The specialist will design, coordinate, and deliver targeted health promotion initiatives aligned with NSW Health strategies to address harmful drug and alcohol use.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective health promotion projects related to drug and alcohol use.
  • Collaborate with health professionals to implement harm reduction principles where appropriate.
  • Contribute to population health improvement by working on initiatives that support disadvantaged groups and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with community, government, and business organizations to facilitate collaborative action.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, population health, education, communication, marketing, allied health or other relevant field and/or experience.
  • High level project management skills with ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate population health projects and report outcomes.
  • Experience working on health promotion issues related to alcohol and other drugs, including engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and disadvantaged groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, group facilitation, negotiation, and computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
