Senior Policy Advisor for Indigenous Health Workforce Reform

This is a leadership opportunity to drive systemic change in the health workforce, promoting anti-racist and culturally responsive approaches.

As a values-led team member, you will contribute to connection, empowerment, justice, and kindness in your work.

You will build relationships and partnerships with local and national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, including the health workforce, health leadership, education providers, and community.

You will work closely with the ACT First Nations Health Workforce Collaborative, providing cultural and professional governance associated with the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce Plan.

You will provide high-level policy advice on current and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce approaches and leadership.

The role involves scoping, developing, implementing, and evaluating projects based on cultural determinants of health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, doing.

This is an Identified position under Section 27(4) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994, open only to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Confirmation of cultural identity may be requested.

Health-related qualifications and/or experience across health-related sectors, including the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector, are preferred but not essential.

We recognize the additional cultural, community, and advocacy responsibilities often carried by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff in leadership roles. Supports will be available to this role, including access to cultural supervision, peer debriefing, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff networks.

This role contributes to reform, not carrying it alone.
