Aboriginal Clinician - Therapeutic Services

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Aboriginal clinician to join our team in delivering therapeutic and case management services to Aboriginal individuals and families. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of culturally appropriate trauma-focused therapeutic supports and be able to work effectively with clients, communities, and professionals.

This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants must hold one of the below eligible qualifications:

  1. Qualification in Social Work which provides eligibility for full membership to Australian Association of Social Workers
  2. Counselling qualification with ACA L3-4 registration or PACFA Clinical Registrant status
  3. Sydney University's Aboriginal Qualification Pathway - Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma)
  4. Psychology: General registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and Senior Psychologist grading or eligible for Senior Psychologist grading with no less than 12 months service at the 9th year of service and thereafter rate
  5. Clinical Psychologist: Accredited Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with endorsement or working towards endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement, and collaborations, as well as understanding of the intersection between issues of intergenerational trauma, colonisation, sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

What You Will Bring:

Experience providing culturally appropriate trauma focused therapeutic supports for Aboriginal individuals and families in regards to sensitive issues

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a therapeutic team and to manage competing tasks in a busy service

Current NSW Drivers Licence and ability to attend Nepean Hospital within 1 hour to participate in the 24/7 crisis on-call service
