Support Young Adults in Need

At Life Without Barriers, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with mental health needs. As a Community Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in providing psycho-social support services to young people between the ages of 17 and 22 who show signs and symptoms of mental illness while homeless or at risk of homelessness.

About the Role

This is a permanent part-time position within a community-based homeless youth service, based in Fremantle. You will be required to work 7 x 10-hour active nights shifts from 10pm to 8am across a fortnight.

  • Provide individualised support, helping to establish routine and structure.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining appropriate accommodation.
  • Coach and mentor consumers in day-to-day life skills.
  • Actively participate in recreational, educational, and culturally appropriate supports.
  • Support consumers to develop their support plans in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with consumers and other supports to coordinate the delivery of services.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate case notes, up to date case plans and files.
  • Observe and record the client's behaviour, needs and interactions with others.
Key Qualifications
  • A Certificate IV in Mental Health.
  • Previous experience working with people with mental health issues.
  • Ability to positively engage and work with people with complex needs.
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Understanding of the Recovery Framework and the underlying principles.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Driver Licence.

To be considered for and appointed to this position, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate.
