The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Government.

Cyber security content designers play a pivotal role in researching, developing, reviewing and publishing technical advice. These individuals require a deep understanding of cyber security, preferably with experience in one of the following fields: machine learning, artificial intelligence, cloud or operational technology.

Effective writers must possess the ability to write actionable, accurate cyber security guidance tailored to a variety of audiences. They must be able to work autonomously, or within a team, contributing to deliverables that support the overall strategic mission.

Cyber security content designers perform various duties and responsibilities:

  • Liaise with stakeholders to support technical publications through the phases of research, scoping, consultation, review and publishing.
  • Produce novel and unique advice and assistance on contemporary cyber security issues.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Provide support to tasks such as section governance, briefings, publication clearances, actioning requests from senior executives, reviewing documents and parliamentary reporting requirements.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in cyber security.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong leadership experience and an ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Ability to think critically.
  • Experience managing projects.
