Job Opportunity: Deputy Registrar Covert HUMINT

The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission's Collection Operations Branch has a key position available for the Deputy Registrar Covert HUMINT. This role is responsible for coordinating, policy setting, and operational practice of the ACIC's human intelligence capability and associated operational assurance.

The incumbent will work closely with the Director to deliver the Covert HUMINT team's priority bodies of work, including supporting engagement with oversight bodies. They will maintain contemporary knowledge of human source and undercover tradecraft, contributing to the development of human source policy and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic advice with a focus on effective tradecraft and documentation to mitigate risk.
  • Supporting executive committees to consider operational proposals.
  • Working with stakeholders to translate trends and best practice into operational practice.
  • Engaging with partner agencies to identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Developing and maintaining practice standards, and contributing to policy development for Human Source and Undercover contexts.

This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to provide best practice advice and guidance for HUMINT operations.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens, as per the Public Service Act 1999. The successful applicant will require a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, unless otherwise specified.
